Biography

Pete Firman is one of the UK’s best-known magicians and comedians, combining astonishing magic with sharp, quick-witted comedy. A familiar face on television and an established live performer, Pete has also built a huge international audience online, with more than 10 million social media followers and over one billion video views.

Pete first burst onto television screens in Channel 5’s groundbreaking series Monkey Magic, before starring in BBC One’s prime-time Saturday night series The Magicians. Since then, Pete has appeared on some of Britain’s biggest entertainment shows, including The Generation Game (BBC One), The Next Great Magician (ITV), Tonight at the London Palladium (ITV), The John Bishop Show (BBC One), The Sarah Millican Television Programme (BBC Two) and The One Show (BBC One). Other television credits include This Morning, Let’s Sing & Dance for Comic Relief, Tommy Cooper Forever, Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live and The Magic Show Story. He also hosted two series of the CITV adventure gameshow Don’t Unleash the Beast.

Pete presented the critically acclaimed BBC Radio 4 documentary Pete Firman’s World of Magic and has contributed to numerous television programmes exploring the history of magic, including How Magic Changed TV, 50 Greatest Magic Tricks and When Magic Tricks Go Horribly Wrong. He is also the author of Tricks to Freak Out Your Friends, a beginner’s guide to magic published in both the UK and USA, and has written for publications including The Guardian, The Scotsman and Time Out London.

An accomplished live entertainer, Pete has performed to audiences around the world, with his one-man shows enjoying ten consecutive years of sell-out performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, alongside numerous UK tours. He has also appeared in major UK theatre productions including Champions of Magic, The All-Star Stand Up Tour and Sandi Toksvig’s Christmas Cracker. His international appearances include Montreal’s prestigious Just for Laughs comedy festival and Hollywood’s legendary Magic Castle, as well as London’s home of mystery The Magic Circle.

With over 15 years experience in creating and performing magic on television, Pete Firman has written, devised and consulted for every major broadcaster in the UK. He has also developed magical effects for several large scale theatre productions.

As an expert on magic and it’s history, Pete has been called upon to write articles and speak on conjuring in mainstream media. His BBC Radio 4 documentary, ‘Pete Firman’s World of Magic’, aired to critical acclaim and he has given several interviews for television retrospectives, such as ITV1’s ‘The Magic Show Story’, Channel 4’s ’50 Greatest Magic Tricks’ and Channel Five’s ‘When Magic Tricks Go Horribly Wrong’.
